ok! so who has 20 minutes or so with nothing else to do at all???????? you?? well if you do...i have just recently returned from a lovely week on the north sea. We went up to whitby for a week and rented a nice little cottage....Whitby is on the north east coast of england and is situated near the north yorkshire moors. It's a very old fishing town and is steeped in history and legend, everything from pirates to vampires....yes whitby is the location where bram stoker's dracula landed when their ship mysteriously wrecked on the shore...just below the east cliff and the fabulous whitby abbey. anyways...while on holiday i took a very very large number of photographs (638 in total) and i have finally finished processing and shrinking them all, and I have chosen (a mere) 200 and put them into a public yahoo folder where you may now watch a slideshow of them, if you'd like! the slideshow probably takes around 15 minutes to watch from start to finish...but i think you have the option of making it go faster if you'd like! anyways...if you've got the time to spare, feel free to check out the photos here

I just ordered a Sigma 70-300mm lens from Jessops because it has been TOO LONG since I was out there with my camera. I'm still completely smitten with it, of course
I even subscribed to Practical Photography last night - they do fantastic worksheets and even put them on their website (complete with the photos they used) so you can practise yourself. It's way beneath your level (and, technically below my level, too) of Photoshop use, but it's so inspirational, it makes me want to try more new stuff
Plus they were giving away a free set of Lowepro camera bags
I've started looking at your pics and it looks like a fantastic place to stay - I love the West Cliff Bank at sunset shot, with the grass all glowing in the sunset. Your photos always inspire me though
Between you and Practical Photography I might actually start taking some again

When are you coming down again?!
Wow. I'm utterly seething with jealousy - - green!
What amazing pics. I can't decide which ones I like the best. I am thrilled with the Abbey. And St. Mary's cemetery. And . . . and . . . ~grins~
Your talent is generous! Glorious! YaY!
RYC: I always think of you. Always.
Oh!! The Whitby Endeavour! OH! Tracy, these are beautiful!
(I'm having to go through them slowly as I'm at work..
)
I absolutely LOVE photo number 22! I am sure there are more that I will love. I am going through them right now, but that one is fabulous.
breathtaking!
Okay number 56 just got me too. So many of these cold be posters or postcards! You have wonderful eye for composition and color.
It's funny; number 87 there's a gull at the bottom of the framethat look slike he is trying to ruin you rphot by being in it!
ALmost done. I am at 159
Wheee! I'll be looking forward to it!!
And I VERY nearly subbed to Digital Photography as well or instead - it was a tough call! But I'd bought a Practical Photography one and really, really liked it - it's as much the photos they print as the tips, I think, because they just make you want to go out and practise!! Thanks for the hint on the lens hood, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Does one come with the Sigma? That's pretty cool - it's v. cheap, considering the zoom on it. I wish I could afford an image stabilised one, but there's just nooooo way at this point. And if you're shooting with the Sigma, then it's plenty good enough and any issues with it will be user error in my case! I noticed in a few reviews lately that the Sigma lenses get a better wrap with Canon users than the Tamron gear gets with Nikon users ... another reason I'm glad I went with the 30D
Phew! I made it. Looks like the trip was fun. Id love to make ti there one day, but I want to sail there from here. GReat tripthough, thanks for sharing the images. I still think 22 is my favorite.
Cool! I have a shutter release cable - it's FANTASTIC - I can't wait to go take pics of running water
WOWzers.
I think I just found the covers for my next 100 ebooks!

WOW!!!!
YOU GO GIRL!!!
Thank you, I forgot how beautiful the North Atlantic was. And, you captured the rainbows! I tried so hard, I wasted rolls of film trying!!! It was like a trip back in time for me... THANK YOU for sharing.
Thank you...
very much.
Your,
Dread
Hello Tracy . I watched your slide show and I have admired the colors of the sea views from the cliffs or by the piers . You watched the piers from your window so this allowed many photos of the sea following the changes of color . The photo of birds are really neat and so ...for the shoes !
Do you know those cliffs and the houses of the town made me thinks to the ones of Boulogne sur mer in front of Folkestone . It is not chalk but clay , schists and limestone . And the capes recalled to me those around Boulogne ( Cap Gris Nez )
I stayed in Whitby in 2001 but it was a town in .... Ontario , Canada ! Perhaps this Canadian town has been founded by ancient sailors and settlers from Whitby in England ?
Thank to share those beautiful photos with us .
Love
Michel
I haven't the time to look at your photos right now, but soon... Whitby is my favourite place on the earth - we named our collie dog Whitby after the town... I miss it so much, so in advance, I thank you for the photos! I'm sure I'll love them.
Oh, my! Your photos are wonderful. I kept a couple of beach shots, the little beach cottages, a few sky shots, and of course the lighthouse. And Caedmon's cross. All will go into my Webshots screensaver. You are so lucky to have been able to go.
Ava
Those photos are incredible...you are very clever. You have captured the essence of Whitby..I would love to visit. cheers
It has worn off, thanks! It was just really, really scary while it lasted
(But I'm a great big wuss!!)
I am glad you are interested in visiting France . Most of people know only Paris but I have not finished yet to discover the numerous beautiful regions of France . But what I say about France is the same for other countries .
I am born near Boulogne sur mer in a small town called Marquise . You will find it too on Google if you want .
Love
Michel
Wow !
Must come back and look again when I get more time... Love the photos of the Abbey though, especially.
Just saw your comment on Gaz's site about C starting secondary school...man, I cannot believe that, it seems like just yesterday that she was hamming it up for us at Sherwood! Hope all is going well for you, I'm off to look at your photos
I checked out those photos. I need to get out more and start taking pictures again. Your style looks so much like pictures I would have taken myself, right down to the shot of the shoes (that was one I would have taken and my wife would have asked, "why did you take pictures of shoes?"
I don't know why.
